How about love as the impulse to give asking nothing in return? - TopicsExpress

How about love as the impulse to give asking nothing in return? We are said to be showered with love on all sides but we have allowed ourselves to be programmed to reject it. Lack of appreciation is a block as well. Practicing appreciation for the gifts we are given, many of them free, increases our ability to accept love. Also, loving oneself more so one can love God more so one can love oneself more becomes a virtuous circle. It only takes an effort to reverse the vicious circle of disgruntlement, disappointment, disgust, disapproval of self, judgmentally, cynicism, whining, complaining, curmudgeonliness, anger, boredom, etc. When realizes none of these things are making one happy and one might try something else amazing transformations start. I can only speak from experience on this. I dont know of a single case where someone has made the effort with no benefits. It also helps (a lot) to ask whatever may be ones personal representation of deity for help. Negativity is an addiction which, like any other addiction, can benefit from spiritual help. Incidentally, the incessant hope for some intervention outside and beyond ones own efforts is an indicator of unwillingness to take responsibility for helping oneself by losing negative attitudes. There is truth in the old adage, The Lord helps those who help themselves. Find someone or something to be kind to. Water a plant if thats all you can come up with, but appreciate yourself for making the effort as you do it. The universe appreciates you for making even that small effort. (And so do I!)
