How accurate is Google Translate? Or Babelfish? I initially gave - TopicsExpress

How accurate is Google Translate? Or Babelfish? I initially gave no thought to localization because other than a few Irish words I picked up from The Clancy Brothers (mostly slang) I dont know anything other than English and I cant afford to pay for localization. However, if I can find a reliable way to do it myself short of locking myself in my house staring at various language lessons for a solid year I suspect that some of my projects could benefit from localization. I can handle a few Uh-oh! The truck have started to move!, I have obtained remoto controlled missile, or even All your base are belong to us moments because the meaning is still clear. The truck started moving unexpectedly, you have some guided missiles to play with, and some guy just took over your base(s). I do need to avoid things like I take great exception to that coming out as bite the wax tadpole or supreme gelding hot sauce launcher. Will Google Translate or Babelfish work for my purposes? If not are there any reliable free translation services? Or should I just stick strictly to the English speaking market until I can afford to pay for localization?
