How and where to start. First and foremost on behalf of Raven Jasmine, Manea Pacifica Members and I we give thanks to our Heavenly Father for helping us pull through to make our showcase happen. So many things did not go to as planned and you could say literally every little thing went wrong with preparations for our showcase that I felt like giving up on everything, yet he kept reminding me to be considerate of those who took the time out to support us which we will be forever grateful for. I wish I had the time to acknowledge everyone on Saturday but thank you so much to all who supported us whether you purchased tickets, raffles etc Wed also like to give thanks to our Guest Artists & those who had duties/roles last night, without you guys, our showcase would not have been a showcase. Thank you to our Matavai Cultural Arts Family Maryjane Mckibbin-schwenke , Freddy Schwenke, David Mauga, Janina Ruta & all of the kids who came out to show their outstanding talent to our people, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Also to our singers & bands Maromaroa Band Boiiz (who covered up for us as well), Rustyz Polynesia Entz , Sonny Tipene & Raffstafari Ioane, Uncle Ken Cameron, Uncle/DJ Teken-a Mata + also our opening band who provided the sound system & equipment Uncle Arona Henry Manea Culture & band THANK YOU! We also apologise to all of our guest artists & also our audience for running behind on time as well. Last but not least on behalf of Raven & I, wed like to give all our love & gratitude to our dancers, drummers, mamas, previous members & parents not only for coming out to practices, costume making nights, allowing your children to come etc but simply for being apart of Manea Pacifica. Friday Night none of our members slept, everybody was up at our house until late afternoon before our showcase trying to finish off our costumes. This is the first group Ive come across where every single person has stayed up to try & help finish costumes. All week Ray & I have been struggling and when we ended up at home after our last rehearsals on Friday, I almost cried looking at all of the costumes to do. 11pm-Midnight everybody started arriving home including our old members, anything it was a miracle! Any pair of hands whether they had previously done costumes or not, female & male, every single person was working. Big thank you to our mamas Aunty Mii, Aunty Tangi, Aunty Puapii N Mimou, Aunty Mata Matara Winchester & Aunty Meme for working on our costumes for over 24 hours! Amazing work by these mamas! Also thank you to Aunty Dancy & Titaa for coming over & making our rauti titis! I also have to mention one girl in particular who was at our house almost everyday and she never slept Friday night yet was called into work on Saturday, returned home to finish the costumes, 8.00pm she rushed herself to the hall and started working again right up until everything was packed to go. My sister LINA BOAZA! You provided me with so much help, what can I give you in return, just doesnt make up for all the hours you gave me & the group. It was good to dance with you & the two girls & Niu again but to have your guys support not only by turning up to every practice but also turning up to our house to do costumes, the best deed I have ever been given! And I cannot forget my sister HILARY JOHNSON & her partner RAFF IOANE vwho were there for us as well and have always been no matter what! Whenever they were busy at work these two are just like Lina, texting and seeing if we needed anything ! Also we cannot thank our parents & direct family enough for being behind us for this event! Thank you to my mother-in-law Arerangi Nicholls for sewing all of our boys skirts, my father-in-law Tumutoa for helping our drummers out with our drumming, brothers Petero & Harry for making our boys rauti costumes, helping out with setting up the hall & to Petero for stealing our show lol To my brother Luke Samuel-Mata thank you for sewing our boys eis (first time hes ever made and helped with costumes) + my mum Moeroa Stella Wichman-Samuel & dad Terry Mata Taputu for always being there for us & everybody else who has moulded us into the two people we have become today THANK YOU!
