How beautiful heaven must be! Robert Lowry, an American churchman wrote in, Shall We Gather at the River? “Yes, we‘ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river that flows from the throne of God”. Lowry here was referring to heaven, where believers in Christ, those who have been washed in His blood will gather to be with the Lord. Lowry hinted that heaven is a beautiful place, and indeed, biblical accounts point to same. The Bible refers to heaven by different names: a better country (Hebrews 11: 16), eternal heavens (2 Corinthians 5:1), the dwelling place of God (Hebrews 12:22), the new heaven wherein dwelleth righteousness (2 Peter 3:13), and heavenly Jerusalem (Revelation 3:12; Hebrews 12:22). Heaven is outstandingly glorious. It is the place where God, the Father, lives. Heaven is outstandingly marvelous with no sin, sickness, sorrow, suffering, death, darkness or demons. David was curious to know the qualification for getting to heaven, which he refers to as “thy tabernacle” and “thy holy hill. “Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprghtly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart” Psalm 15:1,2. By the ministration of the Holy Spirit, he discovered that those who will be there must walk uprightly, be righteous, committed to speaking the truth at all times, not tale bearers, or those who malign other people’s character. They must be trusted and committed people, who stand by their decision to follow the Lord till the end. While he that is heaven-conscious abhors those who hate the Lord, he honours those who love Him. He is not given to unlawful, oppressive and ungodly gain, and does not pervert the cause of justice. Heaven will certainly be a pleasant and blissful place to live in because believers will be in the presence of the Almighty God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, angels and saints who have gone to heaven. Do not allow the transient things of this world to make you lose your eternal habitation in heaven with God.
