How best to help big,and small medium size organizations in the Nigerian market to combat security threats was the focus of a one_day seminar organized recently by Check Point Software Technologies in partnership with DataGroupIT in Lagos. The seminar aimed at educating the firms on solutions that can avert security threats, among other things afforded the participants the opportunities to get exposed to new trends in security threats, the challenges and effects with the Check Point solution to address the ugly trends which have continued to cause economic harm than good. Speaking after the forum, Country Manager, DataGroupIT, Victor Ajua lamented the effect of cyber attacks on organizations, warned that there is need for both big, and small medium size organizations to embrace cutting edge technologies by Check Point to combat security threats and attack. According to him, today’s cyber criminals work at a dizzying pace, developing stealthy new attacks and carefully targeting their victims with customized malware. Rommy Okonkwo – Check Point Country Manager explained that the effect of cyber attacks is great on organizations, as a result of the fact that it causes downtime to the business on business and when there is downtime, organizations lose time, money and the workforce in some cases are affected and these are the things that we want to mitigate. He said that focus of the seminar was to enlighten organizations on how best to be proactive to fight modern day security threats. He assured that Check Point is poised to help with cutting solutions that will help organizations combat the cyber-attacks. While advising the need for companies to embrace best-in_class security solutions,-Rommy said that Check Point has local partners in country amongst which are Dimension Data, FPG Group, Business Connexion, Tenece, Resourcery and others through whom Check Point reach the clients across all the verticals; oil and gas, telecommunications, financial sector and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs). “Our solution is a software that can run on any hardware or open system be it HP, Dell, and/or IBM machines without issues. We do not have issue of interoperability. “Check Point appliance is a simple single box that is preloaded with all the security gateway blades and customer gets what he or she wants on a click on the gate way blade. It comes with various sizes for different categories of customers, making it cost effective for big and small size customers.” Also speaking, the Country Manager, Check Point Software Technologies, Rommy Okonkwo, while lamenting on the security threat which is a global issue advised that companies must brace up against modern day security threats most especially, in this era of cyber-war. According to him, creating the awareness and providing the solution are where Check Point Value Proposition is critical. “The whole essence of the seminar is to let the corporate be aware of the security trends until such a time Check point becomes a house hold name not only in Nigeria but in West Africa as a whole.
