How can I comprehend what it means to be a veteran? How do I say - TopicsExpress

How can I comprehend what it means to be a veteran? How do I say thank you to our service men and women who have done so much: - The endless hours of training to protect both them and the man at their side - The emotional and mental strain to perfect their craft so they can be most effective as they answer the call to duty - The danger they have put themselves in by dealing with threats too volatile for civilians - The danger they have faced head-on both on our own soil and overseas - Dealing with things we would never want to see on our 6 oclock news - Seeing things that would forever scar and define them for the rest of their lives - Going the extra mile in ways we cannot understand for the sole purpose of seeing another soldier come home - Sacrificing themselves (mentally, emotionally and physically) all in the name of my freedom - Giving their lives (as they knew them) so others could be free to live as they chose My heart may not ever be able to truly understand everything I have just taken the time to write. But I am thankful for our military; our service men and women who have sacrificed to keep this country free. And to those who I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing personally: - Leroy Green: US Army - Mitch Green: US Navy - Gary Brooks: US Air Force - Kyle Green: US Navy - Jonathan Brooks: US Air Force - Rob George: US Air Force - Aaron Spatz: US Marines - Derek Bell: US Marines - Ricky Andres: US Air Force - Scott D Humphries: US Air Force - Greg Vicky Gentry: US Air Force - RJ Mcroy: US Navy - Lynn David Spatz - Tracey Van Arsdol Tranum - Eric Geyer - (and his son) Eric Geyer - and so many more whose names elude me right now... ...thank you for serving. It is because of your sacrifice that we can call America free. #veteransday #allgavesome #somegaveall #somestillgiving
