How can parent enforce house rules for their children to follow? Children are precious and most parents can tell you stories of their children caught breaking house rules. Sometimes these children are too young to understand the rules set for them. The rules need to be set based on their maturity and developmental abilities, in other words it should be age appropriate. It is normal for children to test the boundaries and to see how serious the parents are about enforcing these rules. They are very intelligent and often try many approaches including emotional outbursts. Some parents succumb to these approaches and often allow the child to disregard the rules. Sometime these may be very trivial or appear very small. However, the parents need to be aware of the message that is being communicated to the child.
