How can there be such a thing as a religious war when religions are supposed to be about peace, love and solidarity. But even religions succumb to the lures of wealth and power soon enough. The more members and territory the more wealth and power. This is why Christians and Muslims have been warring through most of medieval history and up until now. Why are Buddhists not so concerned with wealth and power? I dont know. I think its their preference for inner peace and solidarity rather than for territorial and material gain that have kept them out of trouble. Theyve fought off aggressors with their martial arts but theyve never been aggressors in their long history. They just live on handouts and somehow have survived through centuries. Perhaps we should all be Buddhists to have world peace.
