How can we raise money to help children with disabilities? How about doing it Cove style by riding a horse! The Bedford County Therapeutic Riding Program raised near $7,000 on Sunday’s ride to help children with disabilities. If you drove through Lafayette Sunday, you probably noticed a field full of horse trailers. Riders enjoyed a nearly 3 hour trip through the woods, followed by spaghetti dinner and an auction. Several through the community donated gifts and items to be auctioned off. This was the 7th year for this annual ride. Located in New Enterprise in Northern Bedford County, Pennsylvania, BCTRP is a center member of the Pennsylvania Council of Therapeutic Horsemanship and is staffed entirely by volunteers. Lois facilitates the riding program, cares for the program’s horses and maintains the facility. They cover most of their operating expenses with proceeds from various fundraising activities and donations. Their big fundraiser of the year is the annual spaghetti dinner / trail ride, held the first Sunday in October.
