How can you as an actor stay ready for that once in a lifetime chance at the role you have been dreaming of? Well there’s practice and training, then a little more practice and training, and finally some more practice and training. But does that make you prepared for the audition? Not if you haven’t been participating in casting calls. That’s where the rubber meets the road in your preparedness. I can’t imagine walking in to that “job interview” (after all that is what a casting call really is) without preparing for that moment. So let’s get you prepared. The casting call practice doesn’t cost a dime if you decide to take advantage of the weekly Open Casting Call at the Black Hills Institute of Broadcast & Cinematic Arts. We are ready for you most every Wednesday for your on-camera audition. You prepare a film or television monologue, dress decent and stop in at 230 Main Street, Suite 2. We’ll sit you in front of the camera under some lights, you’ll slate, then you’ll perform your monologue and finally you’ll participate in a side read with me. We’ll have it on file for you, me and other producers to see as they look for talent to be a part of their production. It’s not a training session for you, but it is practice and that’s very valuable to you and your career.
