How can you tell the difference (when you’ve been taught that they are the same thing)? Look for the Love. People who simply love, without rules or conditions, without demands for you to be anything other than what you are right now, those are the spiritual ones. People with programs and 7 Steps to ____ (being something else thats clearly better than the sucky crappy you now) and often performing with lots of showy bells, whistles, smoke and mirrors (or happy clappy loud music), they are the religious ones. If theyve written a dozen books and none of them tell you how loved you are right now, theyre religious. If theyve written a dozen books and every single one is how much God loves you, maybe. If theyve not written any books but spend their lives in the trenches loving and serving actual people, theyre spiritual. If they tell you how spiritual they are, theyre religious. If they tell you loved you are, theyre spiritual. If, in someones presence, sermons, books, teachings, you are constantly being convicted, you found religion. If someones presence, sermons, books, teachings leave you feeling deeply peaceful and content (not high and on fire for God) and full of love for your fellow man, youve found spirituality.
