We worry about the haze pollution, but on a daily basis, road transport is one of the biggest sources of pollution in Singapore. In contrast, cycling reduces carbon emissions. It also offers benefits for a range of wider public policy concerns. They include those concerned with promoting public health, reducing reliance on cars, easing pressure on our infrastructure and public transport, improving urban design and building a community’s social capital.
