How did Australian actors in the early years of television adapt to the new medium? What impact did our first TV stars have on the national culture? Anne Pender presents Actors in Your Living Room in the NFSA Theatrette this Friday at 5:30 pm. She shares NFSA collection materials from the first 20 years of TV highlighting the work of actors like Ron Haddrick, Nick Tate, June Salter, Garry McDonald, Kate Fitzpatrick and Helen Morse. Anne is Associate Professor at the University of New England and was a SAR research fellow at the NFSA in 2013. This clip from THE MAVIS BRAMSTON SHOW (1965) features Carol Raye and Gordon Chater poking fun at themselves and fellow cast members of the satirical 1960s sketch and variety series.
