How did Jesus endure the cross experience that He had to go - TopicsExpress

How did Jesus endure the cross experience that He had to go through. If He indeed could have called 10,000 angels to His rescue, why didnt He do it. Hebrews 12:2 helps us to understand how Jesus made it through His most difficult hour, Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus was able to go through what He went through because He was not focusing on the present pain, but He was focusing on the results that would come to Him as He went through this experience and came to the other side. For Jesus, I believe, the thing that He focused on when He was on the cross was not the fact that He would one day be exalted at the right hand of God as a reward of His obedience, but He focused on the fact that out of His death would come a bride that He would one day be able to be joined to--the Bride of Christ. When He was on the cross He saw this bride made up of you and me and He kept telling Himself. It will be worth it! It will be worth it! What keeps Olympians working though the pain of training? They have their eyes on a gold medal. What keeps a student going through the pain of classes, tests and late night cram sessions? They have their eyes on the diploma or even the potential to fulfill a dream that this diploma will provide. What keeps a person moving forward into the pain of a needed surgery? They realize that at the end of it they will be able to walk again and they keep thinking about that. What keeps us going in the midst of our trials and some of our pain. We have to see the ultimate good that will come when the pain is over. He have to see the joy that is set before us. We have to focus on what the pain will produce in us and in others around us. We have to focus on the character of Christ, the blessing of God and the eternal reward that awaits us for our endurance and our obedience.
