How did all this start and when I noticed something was wrong...Jenny has been troubled over the last few weeks with spouts of bad days vomiting, diarrhea and discomfort. She managed every time to recover within a few days but seemed worse again a few days later. Her belly was very distended on Thursday and our GI doctor decided to switch her button to a regular balloon catheter of the same size 14Fr to release pressure and protect her stoma. As the button was removed a bunch of ooze and blood tinted fluid squirted out of her stoma. A fluoroscopy and ultrasound study were performed to reveal no internal damage/ draining from the intestine-stoma but a pocked of fluid collection within her intra intestinal wall of the jejunum. Jenny was started on antibiotics immediately and I was told to keep a close eye on her signs and symptoms. Saturday late afternoon Jenny experienced a severe gagging/choking episode which made her change colors. I was not with her but my oldest son was and he alarmed me from the other room. I immediately suctioned and decompressed both G and G to learn that her G was dispensing ooze like slime and her J blood tainted yellow fluid. I took another look at Jennys stomach and realized that she was much more distended. This is when I called GI and Jenny got admitted.
