How do things work here at Sunset Parker? Just wanted to share some good news with you. When a Sunset Park Restoration Board member hears of a problem we review what can be done... for example - a food truck illegally dumping cooking grease in the curbside sewer and driving off. That grease becomes harder than cement eventually and clogs the sewer - especially if debris gets trapped in it. So while getting enforcement out to deal with it I got to make some contacts in DEP (Dept of Environmental Protection) and I just got a phone call from DEP - out of the blue - to chat about issues of Sunset Park concern. This is so GREAT. Now we have someone on the inside to get things done quickly. This is the kind of contacts that our Councilmember should be making - but he is NOT solving problems - he is busy waving and posing for photo ops. So we will do it - after all it is OUR neighborhood - not his - he doesnt live here and he doesnt care.
