How do you accept compliments? Do you stutter and stammer, - TopicsExpress

How do you accept compliments? Do you stutter and stammer, dismiss the words in an effort at humility? Do you accept with a polite, Thank you, with no sincerity? Or are you embarrassed that someone pointed out something beautiful when all you see are a million things wrong? Im the worst. The absolute worst at compliments because I know the truth and feel like a fraud every time I get one. I almost feel the need to take the person aside and say, No, really, I cant write. Have you read Joshilyn Jackson or Charles Martin or Patti Callahan Henry or Maya Angelou or or or. Or how about, Girl, if you think I look nice today, you should have seen these eye bags before make-up. You could pack a weekends vacation in them. Why do we do that? Is that pleasing to God to dismiss when someone else admires us? In a devotion this morning, God opened my heart to His desires for our achievements. The writer, Lloyd John Ogilvie, asked Corrie ten Boom how she handled compliments and adulation from people. Oh, Lloyd, she responded, that is no problem. Every time a person praises me for something Ive said or done, I just accept it as a flower. Then at the end of the day I put all the flowers together into a lovely bouquet, get on my knees, and say, Here, Father, this bouquet belongs to you. Collect your flowers with joy and graciousness. At the end of this day, gather them into a heavenly bouquet and offer to the Lord for His accomplishments. Because if we do all things for His glory then it stands to reason even though our name and focus is tacked onto the compliment, His works receive the credit. ~ Happy happy Friday, sweet friends. I hope you all have a blessed day. Will you do me a favor? Share this message on your wall and tag the one person who is AWFUL at accepting compliments...And tell her/him you think theyre fabulous! ~
