How do you exactly marginalize a billionaire? Cliven Bundy and Donald Sterling have committed the biggest no-no in race relations -- like Paula Deen, Mel Gibson, and a few others before them, they have openly and explicitly uttered overt racist sentiments (tautology fully intended here) against Blacks. And since we are supposedly living in a post-racial America, only explicit and overt racism receive condemnation by consensus. Anything less is usually discarded and dismissed as overreaction or race-baiting. You can be a birther and question the legitimacy of the first Black president, and all that will get you is at worst a mild rebuke from the political mainstream. But Donald Sterling presents a whole new dilemma for our society. How exactly do you marginalize a billionaire? This man is responsible for the livelihood of hundreds of people, and when (not if) his voice on the recording is authenticated, how will that affect those people working for him? Many of these people are making millions of dollars doing relatively easy work, and giving that up will not be an easy thing.
