How do you feel about Christmas? Is it just another holiday? Just another day? Do you dread it? I want Christmas to be different for all of us this year. Normally, Christmas is hectic, running to get presents, running to this familys house for Christmas, running to that familys house for Christmas, running to the Christmas party across town, just everything is hectic right? I think as a society, we have overlooked the meaning of Christmas. Yes, its spending time with family and friends and the ones we love most dear, but the main reason we celebrate Christmas is Jesus. Christmas time is when Jesus stepped down off His throne in Heaven, to be born in flesh on Earth so He could save the lost. Jesus loves us so much that He did that. He loves us so much He died on the cross for our sins. And since He shows us so much love, why cant we show others His love? Because everyone could use some love this Christmas, especially Jesus love. Im not saying that we should stop everything we do for Christmas, Im just saying we need to slow down and intentionally show Jesus love to everyone we come across this Christmas time. It doesnt have to be something really extravagant, it could be helping someone reach something on the top shelf in a store, or encouraging someone in a daily conversation, just something to go out of your way to show others Jesus loves them. And even after Christmas we can continue to show Jesus love! Jesus had us in mind when He came down to earth to die for us. In a similar way, we need to put others first. Romans 15:2 says, We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. This Christmas we need to bring more J.O.Y.! This Christmas we need more of Jesus (J). This Christmas we need to put others (O) above ourselves, encourage them, love them just as they are. And last, yourself (Y). So what can you do differently this Christmas season to show some Jesus love to others to make this Christmas different? Attached is a song by Seventh Time Down called This Christmas.
