How do you measure success? Chapter 2 In this chapter … To know if you have arrived at your destination, you need to know where you were heading. Goal setting has become somewhat of a science within the business and management community today. But are the morals and ethics that the we are fed, the same as what God has in mind for you and your business? Paul says “the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.” But how do you apply seperateness from the world as a businessman? Nice guys come second, don’t they? When Nehemiah takes on the massive task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem he says, “the joy of the Lord, is my strength”. The source of his joy was returning to the Law of the Lord. No material wealth or human suffering was able to rob Nehemiah of his newfound joy. The question that we need to ask is, “what makes me content?” Jesus said it best when He said “do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal, but lay for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” The bible tells us that success can only be measured against one standard – Jesus the founder and perfecter of our faith. Let us first endeavour to know the living, exalted Jesus Christ and the rest will follow. Our only goal in life, business, friendship and family should be to know Jesus.....read more: shalombusiness
