How do you put a dollar amount on a life? You cant, but we are forced to. We received word that a shelter has to euthanize 5 dogs tomorrow because they have skin issues, and are taking up a large cage to themselves. While this is horrible, the shelter is forced to make this difficult decision based on need for space. What have we done? We have sent these 5 dogs to various rescues, offering to pay for their care if they can help. So far we have commitment for Little Man and Rebel. However, we have no fosters available, and do not know what kind of mange they have. How can you help? DONATE! Here is what we have calculated as their needs: the shelter is waiving the pull fee since they would have been euthanized. Skin scrape is approximately $45, Dip #1 (they need 3) $50. Heartworm test $25. Fecal $20. Bordatella $20. Rabies $10. Neuter $55. Pain meds $20. Boarding until Monday (will need more, but that is a start) $45. All of this x 2 to cover both dogs=$580 So, you tell us...is $580 too much to ask for to save two dogs? We hope not. Must have bulk of donations tonight.
