With online paper submission and review now the established norm for scientific publishing, journals have data on each step of the submission process (e.g., from initial submission to initial decision by the editor to selection and assignment of the associate editor (or not) to the external review process and eventual decision)? Should data on the intervals for each step be publicly available to aid authors in the selection of journals that support career trajectories?
