How do you take out a loan to buy sanitary towels from the world bank? We will pay interest on pads Hmmm #crythebelovedcountry #occupyparliamentbeckons my issue is taking a loan for it. Cant we fund it ourselves? Why are we paying interest on sanitary pads as part of the portfolio, this is embarrassing, we have sunk to the pits. Our Government cant fund sanitary pads? Can we not create industries, and empower entrepreneurs to make these pads so we can support our local industries Ive read the study justifying the inclusion of the sanitary pad component of the project. My concern is that they look at the issue in isolation. There are many other factors why girls do not attend school and lack of sanitary pads is just the tip of the iceberg. Like lack of toilet facilities in schools, child labour, gender biases, family poverty. etc. The reports are inconclusive and not credible in my view.
