How does it work? This site has an 8,500 + reach. How did that happen? It wasnt a paid for boost. Is the CAS that interesting to people? As they sit on beaches at Barley Cove etc. Awaiting the throw in at GAA matches etc? Who are they? Are some them the enemy? Hole in the Wall has, and wants no enemies. But it will not countenance crooked behaviour. And, rightly or wrongly, it is critical of the machinations that have led to the CAS controversy. And as insight into the CAS process grows, it looks likely no matter how much Masterson Purcell spin is put on the CAS it will go down in infamy. And Hole in the Walls fight to get the St Francis Abbey site used for the John Parry university college plan (1677) will be seen to have been a decent one. The tragedy that was the County Hall shout fest last Saturday morning was an expression of deep loathing amongst a highly representative segment of the population of the medieval city. (In Oxford, the equivalent would be the St Giles People?). Tears, dismay and palpable anger against those councillors elected on the Anti-CAS ticket who were perceived to be spineless. And some might well have been. And deserving of the - buffering by a cow in calf - Chairman Millea - barracking that occurred. An expression of deep seated resentment against their failure to do right by their electorate. However, its since transpired that the councillors were neutered. Powerless to do anything. Outmanoeuvred by the cunning Mr Crockett and his cabal. Their ducks in such a row that legally both the electorate and their representatives were stumped. Trouble is that theres a bit of irregularity in how the ducks were lined up. The executive installed by Mr Hogan failed to properly advise the new councillors re the CAS. Instead of a letter explaining the plans, the councillors were sent an e-mail saying that if they wanted info on the CAS, they needed to go see the acting County Manager personally. An e-mail crafted in such a way that it could easily be overlooked in the flood of other more pressing e-mails. It seems that the new law requires the executive to inform the councillors. But, it does not say how this should be done. As with Section 482, which is being used against the Hole in the Wall, the lawyers drafting the legislation leave a lot to be desired. Or are Qute Hoors in themselves? Ducks in a row! Trees felled without permits by Ken Ryan & Co under the cover of the Red Alert. And not dealt with in such a manner as to allow bats to leave properly. A scheme commenced when permission for the Vicars St demolition had not been signed off. A scheme where the commandeering of a space used by Traveller people to care for their horses is the Plan B. Or the excoriation of the St Francis riverside to accommodate a road from Bateman Quay - with scant archaeology. A project using an archaeologist who sued the State for €24 million in Newbridge once! Who has a fine holiday home for use by certain people. A contractor whos tender document was so detailed with QS reports etc that it was the outstanding submission - QS reports done knowing that the job was in the bag thanks to certain decision makers. And of course the move by Mr Hogan to give power to the executive. To legally create a neutering of councillors. Ducks in a row! But now in a barrel. And in the High Court firing line potentially. The CAS. More than a so pointless bridge. (Thanks Emer for that bit of poetic description). Imagine a roadway between this and the river. Think Kings College, Cambridge with such a gaff of a road. Hands off to Zuckerberger and Facebook. Maybe they would come participate and help Kilkenny avoid being Tescod and St Francis Abbey being desecrated? Would Harvard like a European campus? Kilkennys the place. We speak English for starters.
