How does the Holy Spirit convict us of sin? (John 16:8) He shows us His Ten Commandments in His word. If we are not convicted it’s because we are blind: refusing to see – and deaf: refusing to hear. We want to obey only ourselves. The word is plain. The Holy Spirit is plain. We are unwilling. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matthew 23:37)
