How exciting is this?!? The City of Sydney is 100% in support of a national cash for containers scheme as a long-term sustainable solution to plastic pollution - and have installed reverse vending machines around the City to reward Sydneysiders for recycling empty plastic bottles and aluminium cans. The machines, located at Circular Quay and Haymarket, are a fun and easy way to encourage drink container recycling and offer a small reward for those who use them, and will be accompanied by a giant ten-cent-piece sculpture made from recyclable plastic bottles. Join the launch Monday 23 June at 10:30am with City of Sydney Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, Ian Kiernan from Clean Up Australia (official), and Jeff Angel from Total Environment Centre/Boomerang Alliance at Circular Quay Bus Stand C, Alfred St, Circular Quay. Be sure to take lots of photos and post them to social media, hashtagging #cash4containers!
