How fortunate we are to live in a generation where this ancient Sephardic Hymn is accompanied by the photographs of reborn Israel. For centuries we prayed for this opportunity and Hashem has granted us a chance . May we be worthy and succeed in the ingathering of the exiles and the rebuilding of our Homeland. Why is it that our people could survive in Galut for so long and in a few generations so many Jews have lost touch with that chain of tradition? Without Israel, what would have been left after the Holocaust? My daughter Penina called today from Israel to wish us a Shana Tova and I told her that if I were her age, I would follow her and her family. May their klita be successful. Living in Modiin is not like living in a shack in the Negev, but it still involves a lot of change and adjustment. I am proud to have a number of children who have made aliyah and are raising my grandchildren in Israel. Listen to this beaurtiful Sephardic song and you will be touched.
