How have you shaped your profession and what challenges did you see? The work of advocating on behalf of the profession is ongoing, which requires professional representation to be effective, and that requires money. This work can seem very intangible at times, as much of it goes unseen. Work gets done when we remain true and consistent to our goals. This means consistency with funding, administrative and organizational needs within our group. Our biggest project in the past six months was the Chiropractic Association of Wisconsin’s bill to practice acupuncture. Relationships are the key for effective advocacy. We each have a role in this arena, and that requires us to remain steadfast in our message. If we don’t shape the future of our profession, there will be others that will gladly do so for us.
