How important is your church to you? Have you ever noticed these words from the apostle Paul? To Paul, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, church is extremely vital, indispensable even, to us. Church = Family. Church = Gods family. Church = What supports and undergirds the truth. Church is where we find the word, the sacraments, the forgiveness of sins, the power of the Holy Spirit. Church, because it is family, is something to which we are right to dedicate ourselves. It is something for which we are correct to sacrifice ourselves. If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15, NIV). Our reading for Friday, October 24, is Jeremiah 33:1 - 34:22, Psalm 119:57-64, Proverbs 27:21 and 1 Timothy 3:1-16.
