How insane is our Asylum Seeker Policy (so called Sovereign Borders Protection Policy) which drives asylum seekers to despair, uncertainty, hopelessness and torment and even self harm and suicide; which exacerbates any harm they have already experienced and then, even if they ever are allowed into any other country, or sent back, they will be so traumatised that they will be in dire need of major support and counselling, maybe for life, if they can even get help at all, just to function as normal members of society.. If they ever can hope to do so again?.. We deliberately make it so hard for them, and then blame them for the failings that we have perpetrated and foisted upon them, the injustices that we are doing them, and therefore do to ourselves and all society, ultimately resulting in, if it is left as it is, totally unaddressed and unresolved, far more harm and injustice than good, both in the short and long term for all humanity.. by the ripple effect alone.. Not to mention the constant hardening of our own hearts and consciences as we become increasingly desensitised, and therefore, ultimately, coldly calculating and insensitive to, and even totally dismissive of, the deep trauma, isolation, discrimination and obvious cruelty of their forced long-suffering, which is on top of an already harsh and cruel ordeal. Consider the deep injustice and immorality inherent is such policies, whatever other justifications and excuses are trotted out as an apologetic for their cruelly perpetrated implementation and continued abuse of even our most basic of human rights.. to our fellow human beings..
