How is THE BHUTANESE Newspaper able to lay its hands on so many confidential Government papers? That Tenzin Lamsang has a knack of getting hold of confidential documents is well known. Of late however, his ability to access such papers including the minutes of the Committee of Secretaries meeting as he so deplorably flaunts in his article Cabinet Secretary admitted to not informing Cabinet on CoS issue has started to worry me as would anybody who works for the government and are bound by certain code conduct and ethics. The bigger question is how is Lamsang able to get hold of confidential papers? Everybody should be asking this question because this concerns the larger interest of the bureaucracy and the nation? Especially so when such information seem to rest in the hands on a person, whose interests and motives are confined. The regularity with which he leaks out government documents can undermine the integrity of an entire system and if not put to stop that of our nation. It is time that the government should start finding out how he has access to such privileged information and document? Does he have connections in the civil service whose integrity have been compromised? Is he accessing information unlawfully? To be in unlawful possession of documents which are state property is criminal offence and therefore liable for prosecution. Is the government going to do anything about it? I sincerely hope that due investigation is carried out and those responsible should be made accountable. Please smoke out the mole catering to Lamsang. Media should not treat the civil service like a trash bin from where to dish out information as and when it suits them. The integrity of the civil service must be protected and journalism must be conducted on the basis of journalistic ethos and ethics. Lamsang should stop ridiculing the civil service through such claims of This Paper is in possession of.... Be a true Bhutanese and act like a true Bhutanese.
