How is anyone talking about anything other than this right now? I so rarely get involved in these discussions publicly, but this situation is so upsetting and only getting worse, and I would really like for you to be angry about it, too. Our police forces being militarized is a terrible step. To enforce that by allowing them autonomy without accountability is worse. We are looking plainly at state-sponsored racism and it is a very big deal. This kind of itchy trigger finger by our protecters is scary enough - to think that it is exacerbated by racism is a nightmare. We need federal intervention desperately. Please consider sharing articles such as this one, as well as making calls to your local reps. It may feel futile, but raising awareness is surprisingly effective in situations such as this. This goes one of a few ways, ultimately, but think about raising your voice toward it going peacefully and diplomatically.
