How many "-omics" are there? "-omics" is a term that can indicate a field of research with a broad view of an area- for example, many of our scientists are involved in genomics research, that studies the entire genetic content of cells, or proteomics, that looks at the full set of proteins present in cells. A search of 2013 research papers revealed that proteomics and genomics were the most mentioned "-omics" but there have been once-off usages of terms such as biointeractomics, pharmacometabolomics, nutrimetabonomics, phylotranscriptomics and rehabilomics. Do you have a favourite "-omic"?
