How many of you watched 60 minutes story on disability? What were your thoughts on the show? I will include link try to be patient through 5 advertisements. It took me 5 attempts to finally sit through all of them at once. Eric would like to share his thoughts on this subject..... Did you happen to catch 60 Minutes Sunday night? There was a report on fraud when applying for disability. Fibro was named as one of the top three reasons people apply. The reporter and the attorneys he was interviewing actually joked about the fact that there is no testing for Fibro, so it was easy for people to use as an excuse to apply! The story was very one sided. There was no mention made that Fibro could actually be real and left those watching to believe it was not. Sadly, the story focused on Kentucky. The state I live in. They said that disability claims are 3x more likely to be filed here than anywhere else. This story and those numbers terrify me. I have Fibro and several other conditions and diseases. I was denied the first three times for disability (in Kentucky there are three reviews and appeals before going in front if an ALJ). My hearing with the ALJ is coming up within the next several months. This story does not give me high hopes. 60 Minutes should be made to air a retraction or at the very least air a segment on fibromyalgia! cbs/shows/60_minutes/
