How much contamination is acceptable? I suppose it depends on - TopicsExpress

How much contamination is acceptable? I suppose it depends on what is doing the contamination and what is being contaminated. I knew a chemist that worked at McCormicks spice factory in Salinas, Ca. It surprised me that a chemist would be employed there (of course, I was much younger then and many things surprised me). He explained that his job was checking for contamination of the spices. A certain amount of rat hair, insect feces and other contaminates were allowed. He pointed out that ground pepper had a slightly higher acceptable contamination level than, say, cinnamon. As I recall, it was because it was more difficult to see. To this day I use only pepper corns and a pepper mill. Thats spices. What about radioactive contamination? There is a certain background level that humans have always been exposed to. Now, since nuclear power and testing, we have a higher background radioactive level than before with certain elements showing up in the environment that didnt used to be there. How much radioactivity is acceptable? What about religion? I would think that religions would want to be very pure before their god(s). Specifically Christianity where the very first commandment says, I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no other God before me. The second commandment says, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, or things which are in the earth beneath. How much contamination is acceptable here? Can Xtians have a little, tiny graven image? Can Xtians have icons, or statues, or aids to worship? If you read the full scripture in Exodus starting about Exodus chapter 24 until its complete. (For those who actually have a Bible, know how to look up Exodus and will read it). You get a pretty clear idea that nothing from any pagan false god practice was acceptable to the God of the Bible. Yet, Xtians today have many pagan traditions, with purely pagan worshipping of idols and graven images incorporated into their celebrations and worship! Why is that? How much contamination is acceptable to your God, Christians? This question has plagued me for some time. So I would really like to know how Christians rationalize how they worship knowing that pagan contamination is present. References are from Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments
