How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the Eternal - TopicsExpress

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the Eternal Spirit, (thats another name for the Holy Spirit) who offered Himself without spot or blemish to God, how much more shall His blood cleanse your conscience from dead works (Heb. 9:14). What a powerful statement! God wants this accomplished redemption to cleanse your conscience from dead works, so that you would serve the living God. What does that mean—to cleanse your conscience from dead works? Look at Heb. 10:2. The writer of Hebrews elaborates on this principle in the middle of verse two. “For the worshippers, once purified, would have no more consciousness of sins when they approach God.” What does it mean to have your conscience cleansed? It means, according Heb. 10:2, when you approach God in worship, in service, in prayer, there is no consciousness of sin when you approach the Lord. Most believers cannot grasp this. For so many the good news means the day they get saved its their passport to Heaven, and then they have hope that they’ll eventually get there, but between now and then, they live under the pain and consciousness of their failures all the time. Sure, we live under the knowledge that we fail. I know that I do wrong things, but when I approach God, my sin is not in between me and God in terms of from God’s point of view. It doesnt mean you dont acknowledge your sin anymore. It means it doesnt hinder you when you come before God. When God looks at you He doesnt look at your failure. When God hears your worship and your cry for help, He doesnt account it according to failure, “Well, if youve had a good week, I’ll hear your prayer, but if you’ve had a bad one, I won’t.” It does not mean we do not confess our sins. It does mean that we dont relate to God with consciousness of guilt.
