How much should you give? Have you ever really thought about that? We read in various parts if the Bible that we should give 10%, but then you ask, 10% of what?. Is it out of my take home, or my gross? We sometimes get so hung up on it that we forget it is giving from the heart. The lady in this reading gave it all, not just ten percent, but everything she had. She was willing to give it all for God. It isnt always about money as much as it is about giving, and the sacrifice we make to give. As long as I have been a regular contributor to church and charities, I have been taken care of by God. Some will say, well you have a good job, but it has not always been good. We started our family as 18 year olds, and struggled many times, but are faith and trust in God has carried us through those tough times. It is more about a trust that God will take care of you than about how much money you give, or how much you make. Do you trust in God enough to give? What do you do in addition to the money you give? Lord, I thank You for providing for our family, and the generosity You have poured out on us, May I be as generous with my giving, as You are with Your gifts. Luke 21:1-4 When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”
