How much time does it take to be on the School Board. Wednesday attended the Legislative Committee for 1 1/2 hours, Budget Advisory Commission committee at noon to provide a report, followed by a 3 hour meeting of a committee on the design of the redesign of West/Romig, and then a 1 1/2 hour presentation by Superintendent at Sand Lake Elementary on the budget. Last night I attended 1 1/2 hours of poetry at Eagle River High School. Today, I hour of meetings at the ASD headquarters with Superintendent and staff, 1 1/2 hour Policy Committee meeting focused on lottery policy (very productive), then off to be a judge at the Drama, Debate and Forensics team competition at Service High School. Tomorrow more judging, and Sunday MLK celebration at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Did every Board member attend? No, but most attend extra functions, The best part of being on the Anchorage School Board-attending school related functions to see some of the great students and staff at events, and seeing some of the goals you help set and accomplished. Worst part-not being an hourly employee)))
