How not to learn history It is my belief that Nigerian youths are not interested in history but recent events seem to be changing my thought. Now more than ever, my fellow Nigerian youths are knowing about the past albeit the bad way! Their teachers are political senior citizens and religious leaders who are but pawns in the hands of the former. Sadly, history is not that simple and must be told as a continuum without cutting out any detail as it could not just render the story untrue but also incomplete. Talking about Turkey these days before an election is pathetic enough but to make some underlying facts obscure makes things worse. Turkey or even the rest of Europe were never originally Christian places. Jews came before the Christians to Europe and met some other religions there and today these places are called Christian nations. A complete understanding of these metamorphoses require and indepth grasp of history from an academic point of view, from multiple primary sources if possible and not from people like Pastor Bosun Emmanuel who came all the way from Germany to give us a taste of the Nazi Hitler mentality.
