How the C-VID® Retrofit Tech Monitor Can Benefit Your O.R. 1. Reduce Dose – Many surgeons are willing to sacrifice image quality for reduced dose… good for them! A seemingly poor image to an x-ray tech may be a superior image to a surgeon. Low dose settings combined with collimation is optimal since image quality naturally improves while dose is decreased… everyone’s a winner! The C-VID allows the technologist to assess image quality on the fly with her own screen, thus reducing time and dose to the patient and the staff. The further one stands away from the x-ray tube, the less dose received. The C-VID allows the technologist to stand back, away from the table, reducing dose by distance. 2. Reduce Positioning Errors – There are times when the anatomy is so obscured by sterile drapes that even the surgeon doesn’t know where the head is. However, in most cases, enough of the anatomy is exposed for proper positioning of the x-ray beam. The problem is that regardless how easy or difficult it is to view the surgical site, the tech is forced to abandon his position at the c-arm to view the surgical site and the main monitor for confirmation. The C-VID eliminates that second step because the technologist has his own monitor for assessment. Therefore, the C-VID makes positioning faster and more fluid, reducing time and exposure to everyone involved. 3. Reduce Sterile Field Contamination – All too often, the technologist contaminates the sterile field because he is moving back and forth to view the main c-arm monitor. This wastes time and money. With the C-VID, the technologist remains at his station, keeping sterile drapes sterile while still providing the surgeon with superior image quality and dose savings. The C-VID decreases the chance of bumping into sensitive equipment and contaminating sterile drapes. 4. Reduce Procedure time – Another problem with moving from the c-arm to viewing the main monitor cart is time. For every minute the patient is under anesthesia, the higher the risks become. With the C-VID, the technologist reduces procedure time by reacting and responding to the surgeon’s commands more quickly and accurately, thus reducing overall procedure time and improving patient outcomes. 5. Reduce Stress in the O.R. – The operating room is one of the most stressful environments in the hospital. Every time an x-ray technologist moves away from her station to assess image quality or position, it disrupts the procedure and increases stress… especially during delicate and difficult cases. With the C-VID, the technologist can focus on the surgeon and more easily and quietly communicate thus reducing noise and stress during surgical procedures. 6. Reduce Cost – The C-VID reduces costs by improving procedure time, reducing sterile field contamination, positioning errors and lowering overall dose to the room. These costs are cumulative and can add up to a large sum. Another large cost is a new c-arm. With the C-VID, you can keep your existing c-arm or purchase a refurbished c-arm and enjoy all the benefits of the new technology, thereby saving you upwards of tens of thousands of dollars!
