How those pesky prepositions can ruin FORMAL EQUIVALENT translation. Consider how prepositions affect meaning when attached to the verb to run, for example: run into, run over, run out, run up, run down, run in, run about, run around, run across, run against, run along, run by, run for, run off, run past, run through, run with. And in most of these uses, the concept of running is hardly present. You just cant get a formal equivalent translation for such expressions. (Apologies to all my ESL friends for such a complicated language!)
