How to Judge Your Coaching and When You Are Supposed to Win and Lose. - Be honest and realistic when evaluating your soccer team and your coaching. If you play a team that has more athletic, more aggressive, and more skilled players, you are supposed to lose - if you win, you were either lucky or you out-coached the opposing coach, or your team was more motivated (which is something you can control) - when that happens you have done a great job. If you play an opponent that has less athletic, less aggressive, and less skilled players, you are supposed to win. If you play teams that are equal to yours in athtletic ability, skill, and aggressiveness, you should win half the time. The difference in those games is often motivation - the more motivated team will usually win. The more motivated team will hustle, play hard, and usually have better Team Work and Team Spirit. If you are losing to teams that have ability that is equal to or less than your team, ask why and observe the teams that are beating your team. Is the other coach doing something you arent doing? Are the opposing players more motivated? Do they hustle more or play harder? Do they have better Team Work and Team Spirit? Be realistic in your evaluation. If you lose to a better team, dont kick yourself - your team was the underdog. If you beat a better team, you and your team have done a great job, but dont get overconfident or you could have a let-down and get beaten by a weaker team. It takes time to improve skills and it is hard to improve speed, but you CAN quickly motivate your players to hustle, practice, have a good attitude, and play hard - it is one of the fastest and easiest things you can do.
