How to dress up like a Bollywood bride What’s the one wish in every girl’s dream list? To look like an absolute princess on their wedding day! Months, sometimes years, are spent on wondering about ‘the look’ for the wedding day, and rightly so! The Hindi film industry, or more commonly known as Bollywood, has been an inspiration to people all over. Not surprisingly, the beautiful actresses have been trendsetters for young brides as well. For the sangeet/cocktail ceremony The sangeet ceremony is one of the most anticipated pre-wedding events. No longer just a home affair, sangeet ceremonies mean grand performances and lots of merriment. For a bride, it is important to enjoy her sangeet without any hassle. Actress Amrita Arora’s look at her sangeet can give you some cues. Her white and red lehenga by Vikram Phadnis is perfect to let your hair down and have a rollicking time. On the other hand, if you wish to look a little formal yet stylish, opt for Genelia D’Souza’s look. Her pristine white Manish Malhotra ensemble is simply perfect. For the mehendi ceremony The mehendi ceremony is a significant one for Indian brides. Generally, a close-knit affair with friends and family, the mehendi ceremony calls for comfortable clothes for the bride. Esha Deol chose a bright orange, yellow and green outfit by Neeta Lulla, perfect for the day event, ushering in prosperity and happiness. Some years ago, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked ethereal in a baby pink lehenga by Neeta Lulla for her mehendi ceremony. Her floral jewellery accentuated her looks even further, complimenting the innocence of the lady. For the wedding ceremony As they say, classics never go out of fashion. Most of our Bollywood brides chose the traditional way to get married, sticking to age-old Kanjeevarams and heirloom ghararas. Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s wedding attire was designed by Tarun Tahiliani. A red Kanjeevaram saree was uniquely designed by the ace master to suit the occasion. On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor decided to refurbish her mother-in-law’s heritage sharara by Ritu Kumar for her wedding. Model cum actress Urvashi Sharma chose a traditional lehenga but an unusual colour-yellow- for her wedding ceremony. Lisa Ray, married to an American, chose a Wendell Rodricks minimalistic white gown, complete with a veil for her wedding ceremony. For the reception ceremony Bringing an end to the wedding festivities, the reception is a time when the newlyweds formally greet the world as a couple. It is one ceremony wherein the bride can let her personal choice speak for itself and choose an attire that has always been on her wishlist. Traditional, contemporary or something from both the worlds, the reception should be a grand one. Genelia chose a contemporary red and golden lehenga choli by Falguni & Shane Peacock while Esha Deol chose a pretty pink and silver lehenga by Rocky S. Shilpa Shetty Kundra wore a shimmry golden saree-gown by Tarun Tahiliani for her reception, showing off her curves at the right places while Ayesha Takia looked a resplendent Muslim bride in her golden sharara. Every bride deserves to look the best on her D-day. Get inspired by the Bollywood brides and sweep your man off his feet!
