How to employ fallacy to manipulate, shame and impart unearned guilt to a child.... There is a magic elephant, darling child, who, if you are good, will leave sweeties on your pillow when you ask. I asked and asked every night for sweeties - there were no sweeties, mommy. I dont think the elephant exists. Perhaps you havent been good enough, and the Elephant chose not to leave you any. Being good means believing in the elephant.... being bad is not believing. Thats why there werent any sweeties... proof, if any were needed, that the elephant is real and you are a wicked child. Especially as the elephant loves you so much.
