How to get your kid to listen to you. Findings from a series of recent studies by universities across The United States, The United Kingdom, and Sweden, report that teaching a child to be a good listener starts with their parents. The researchers agree that a child who is not interupted by their parent, will naturally learn not to interupt the parent. These same studies strongly suggest that interruption is a struggle for power in conversations. During a power struggle, very little listening is happening. In addition to these findings, medical reports from similar studies also found that people who interrupt conversations are at grater risk for heart problems. In a nut-shell, if you want your child to be a good listener, then you have to be a good listener. In a smaller nut-shell? Practice what you preach, because you will reap what you sow.
