How to hold your wine glass ....? Does it really matter how you hold your glass ....? YES, not because of snobbery but more common sense ....! A typical wine glass comprises of three major parts - (i) bowl (ii) stem and (iii)foot - each with specify reasons for existence. Bowl for holding your precious wine; stem as something for you to hold your wine between two fingers to provide good stability and balance, and foot to prevent all from falling over. By holding your glass correctly you honour key wine principles: appearance of wine (no greasy fingers on glass bowl); temperature of wine (no warming of wine); nose of wine (no hand lotion to interfere with wine aromas); and ability to swirl the wine in your glass.
