How to impress clients: Just use this format when presenting the advice you would normally give. Well, given the current situation, the worst case scenario is [plausible negative outcome]. Normally, I would recommend [predictable course of action], but because of [factor unique to this situation] I recommend we [minor change to predictable course of action]. That should avert [previously predicted negative outcome]. Now, when that negative outcome doesnt come true, you get praised for your valuable advice that averted a potential disaster. You therefore begin to appear indispensable. Always saving their bacon. And if it ever happens that they dont follow your advice, and should a previously predicted negative outcome occur - even if for unrelated reasons - you get the told you so angle that will make sure they actually listen to your advice in the future. Making predictions is incredibly powerful if you can be reliably accurate. If youre hired for advice, youre basically a fortune-teller.
