How to make money by abusing and assaulting others with noise. Proof that much renovation in blocks of flats is not for personal residential need, but people doing business, outside investors profiteering in immediate resale after purchase and a month or more of major renovations, destroying the lives from 8am to 5pm at least 50% of people. All retirees, people who work from home, people who work night shift and in emergency services, etc, and the entertainment industry, who live underneath, above or in the nearby vicinity of the flat concerned. You see the contractor, briefly, to drop and collect his laborers, but never the new owner. These absentee landlords rental income investors charge more now, yet their tenants have to put up with regular renovations unless they have a 9-5 job. I have had at least 10 renovations in the last 3 years each lasting 3 weeks to 3 months, more than 50% of my time here, while paying nearly R300/day for the pleasure of being physically assaulted in the head with a sledgehammer, drill or grinder. And the body corporate says yes every time in case they want to renovate themselves. If only people moving in and not able to sell for a couple of years, or who lived there for at least a year, were given permission to renovate for reasonable personal needs, there would be far less excessive noise, bringing a little balance to our stress levels, with all sirens, car/house alarms, helicopters, cell phone noise and the following loud inane conversation people think is everyone elses business. Yet people they can complain if they can even hear your piano through the wall a tiny bit, day or night, if they dont like what you are playing. If music be the food of love, then this society is filled with hate, and selfish profiteering disguised as civil society. Buying a house and doing it up is a different dynamic obviously, since there are limited houses surrounding you, none above or below, the turnover of a major house renovation is more occasional, and more neighborhood community friendly, since people get to know each other better, unlike many large apartment blocks. Maybe dealing with this out in the open will help build proper longer term community dynamics in upmarket blocks of flats. Right now it is just plain Im with Stupid abusive!! Are we just here to work largely to satisfy the needs of landlords of land that was effectively stolen by force, if we cant afford to buy a house?!!
