How to manage your 40,000 Negative Thoughts? I have heard that an average person like me has 50,000 thoughts each day. Some deep thinker may have 70,000 to 80,000 thoughts per day. I have also heard that 95% of these thoughts are same Vast majority of these thoughts are Pure Nonsense We dwell in past (which is no more) or fantasize in Future (which is yet to come) This means that about 47,500 thoughts go on my mind each day, YES same thoughts!!!!! This is amazing. With so much inner traffic, it is not surprising that we loose touch with our self And to add to the woo, I have also heard that about 70% to 80% of these thoughts are NEGATIVE THOUGHTS! Imagine two partners living together, with 100,000 thoughts (So much inner traffic and most of that is absolutely useless and negative), it is no wonder that partners do not have time for each other, and find difficulty finding and making contact with each other! An absolute minuscule number of our thoughts are actually focussed on what is truly important and real; the Present Moment. Remember we only have the present moment with us (pal, in hindi). Rest everything is elusive and illusory! How do I come out of this vicious cycle? Mindfulness is the answer Watch the thoughts (Do not try controlling them, else there will be bigger problem). Just watch. Slowly and gradually the thought will become less and less and this is the only way to live in present Choice less awareness is the answer Jai Gurudev
