How to test wall paints? Use samples, which are as large as possible. Get a paint sample mixed and apply it on lining paper. Pin the paper onto the various surfaces you intend to colour. I insist on testing on all the walls as natural light will not hit as intensively each surface of the room and you want to see how the paint behaves on the main walls as well as in the darker corners. You will see how much the light impacts your perception of the colour. Repeat the same exercise at nighttime as artificial light will affect also your perception. If you can paint your sample directly onto the walls, make sure you paint in several areas for the same reasons as mentioned above. Do not forget that the darker your chosen colour is the more layers you will have to apply to build the colour to its correct intensity.
